Were You Ever on Gilmore Girls?

Get in touch.

So many extras at Rory's Chilton graduation. Were you there?

Have you ever met anyone who was on Gilmore Girls? What happened? Did they talk about the show? Over seven years, there must have been hundreds of cast, crew and extras… Can you spot the Gilmores in the crowd of graduation ceremony extras?

Or were you ever - I’m holding my breath - ever on the show? What do you remember? How was the atmosphere? I imagine it was fairly hectic but professional, having to get through all that dialogue – but I bet the setpieces were fun.

You can comment below. You don’t even have to give your real details! Fair warning though: if you’re even vaguely recognizeable, you face a barrage of affection, hugs and quite possibly some virtual petting. I mean, just witness the response / carnage to Lauren Graham’s recent online Reddit chat.

The closest I’ve gotten to Gilmore alumni is tweeting with Lauren Graham’s literary agent… but once upon a time I wandered through Leicester Square on a damp London evening straight into a crowd outside the Empire cinema. Leicester (pronounced ‘Lester’ for anyone State-side) Square is where all the big movie premieres happen in England. I was just kicking around so thought I’d go stand next to the ribbon to see who might turn up for… what looked like the premiere of Star Trek: Nemesis.

Within minutes, a bearded Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) strolled coolly past, Brent Spiner (Data), then a skinny and (at the time) a mostly unknown Tom Hardy (Shinzon). I whooped at Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) when she walked by – her glittery dress was as short as anything from the first series of The Next Generation – and was rewarded with a few seconds of eye contact that still keeps me warm on cold nights.

Another time, I exchanged nods with Aiden Gillen (politician Tommy Carcetti from The Wire) on the London Underground, he looked like a homeless guy. I saw Peter Berg (producer of Friday Night Lights) accompanied by two big bodyguards from across the street in Washington DC. Damian Lewis(Homeland) outside a Soho cafe. And Rolf Saxon taking in the sights at Leicester Square – he’s the guy from the first Mission: Impossible movie that they dose with a diarrhoea pen.

I’ve seen celebs on stage at the theatre, which doesn’t really count but it’s a fun TV list: Joshua Jackson (Pacey from Dawson’s Creek), Patrick Stewart (multiple times – he’s entrancing), Luke Perry (Dylan in the original Beverly Hills 90210), Alyson Hannigan (Willow from Buffy & Lily from* How I Met Your Mother). Oh, and Gene Wilder (the true *Willy Wonka).

Who have you met from TV-land and how were they in real life? Did you sit behind Jared Padalecki in a cafe? Did you see Scott Patterson play pro-ball? Or see Hep Alien play live? And I know it’s a long shot, but were you ever in the cast or crew of Gilmore Girls?
