Alex Borstein talks Gilmore Girls and Getting On
Insights from behind-the-scenes
Kicking off this year is a terrific interview from the always classy Alex Borstein.
She was the originally intended Sookie St James, played both Drella the harpist in season one and later on, the fabulous Miss Celine (Emily’s name-dropping stylist).
In real life she’s married to Jackson the produce guy, is the voice of Lois in Family Guy (for which Dan Palladino continues to be one of the showrunners) and is a very funny lady and writer.
Alex I wouldn’t have been that comfortable with Jackson and I - they had them getting married and having kids. I don’t think I would have wanted to do that on screen with my real-life husband.
She spills the beans on the shenanigans between Fox and MadTV that led to Melissa McCarthy’s casting in her place, how Family Guy led to her husband Jackson Douglas playing Jackson Belleville in Gilmore Girls and talks about her current HBO series Getting On. Ah you don’t need me telling you about it, read for yourself:

Have you been watching Getting On? It’s based on a successful BBC series of the same name, and is winning awards and critical acclaim. The Youtube clip in the article made me smile all the way through.
Best Drella or Miss Celine moment?
I don’t think we’ve ever had a Family Guy discussion, but I’m a fan. Does anyone else sit in both Gilmore Girls and Family Guy camps? The two don’t seem obviously similar so maybe I’m just a weirdo.
Wishing you all an eventful and prosperous 2014!
